Event Description
Challenge
Rural farmers in Plateau State face various challenges, including access to drinking water, electricity, modern farming techniques, and the impact of climate change, in recent years, they experienced frequent ethnic and religious conflicts, leading to the displacement and loss of livelihoods. Although most have decent school buildings but lack skilful educators, 80% of educators, students and youths are not aware of recent technological inventions, especially AI and how it support learning.
Solution
Our Skill Builders’ team shall expose these disadvantaged learners and their educators to modern learning tools and agritech, helping learners to pursue higher education, secure better employment, and break the cycle of poverty and inequality. Also, the project is conceived to manage the future reoccurrence of deadly ethnic clashes to change the mindset of the future generation via peace workshops and sports to strengthen social bonds, through joint learning, team-building and exercise
Long term impact
The project is expected to have a lasting impact on the community because it will equip rural farming communities with basic digital skills and knowledge, enabling them to better engage with digital tools and technologies for their benefit. The project aims to promote and help rural farmers acquire and use renewable energy, leading to reduced environmental impact and improved energy access and job opportunities for the youths and fostering a sense of camaraderie and community spirit.
